Hi, I'm Flora Bowditch! I am a recent graduate from the University of Victoria with an M.Sc. in Mathematics. I offer tutoring services for university and high school students across B.C. and Alberta in various mathematics and statistics courses. All tutoring is provided exclusively online via Zoom with my tablet shared on-screen. If you are interested in booking a session, or if you have any questions, please contact me.
ABOUT ME
I have a B.Sc. in Honours Mathematics and an M.Sc. in Mathematics, both of which were obtained at the University of Victoria. Since 2015, I have worked as a teaching assistant in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Victoria. My roles have included marking assignments and midterms, tutoring students one-on-one in the math and stats assistance centre, and leading tutorials for various first- and second-year mathematics courses. In 2018, I taught a third-year statistics course at Royal Roads University, which involved weekly lectures along with R tutorials in the computer lab. Since January 2020, I have been working as a private tutor for post-secondary mathematics and statistics courses, with over 60 students helped so far.  For more information about my education and work experience, as well as a list of awards and publications, please see my C.V. posted below.

I honestly can't say enough great things about her! She was easy to get along with, affordable, never made me feel silly about not understanding, and best of all, she was SUPER good at explaining things! She was also extremely helpful, even when not in our tutoring sessions, as I was able to text her if I had any questions about my assignments or the practice assignments she sent to me. It was years since I’ve taken a math course and even in high school I would barely pass. I was really struggling with math this semester and having Flora as a tutor is one of the reasons I passed! She explains the material in such a clear way and challenges you to answer questions before telling you the answer which was very helpful. She has a way of encouraging you without making you feel unintelligent. She was able to explain entire notes, theories, and work through extra problems with me all in an hour. My first year of university was online, not only has it been a difficult battle in my courses with online learning but I found that the pandemic also made me like many others very isolated in my dorm room. I can say with certainty that the support and kind nature Flora brought with her to each of our sessions not only helped me through Math 151 getting a better grade then I could have ever imagined, however she also made a clear effort to make a connection which was very much appreciated during the pandemic when all other social gatherings have been banned. Flora tutored me in calculus for 2 semesters and she was absolutely amazing. With my courses being online, I had a tough time learning the material especially when some teachers were less than stellar with their online instruction. She made learning the material super easy and guided you through working through problems and figuring them out on your own. I would highly recommend her for anyone who needs any math help. She was an absolute joy to have as a tutor.
